Five Benefits Of Switching To Natural Deodorant

Thinking of giving natural deodorant a try? Great stuff! There are plenty of benefits to switching to natural deodorant. Here’s an outline of some of the key benefits for you and your body. Let's get started on your natural deodorant journey!

Natural deodorants allow your body to sweat.

Sweating is a normal and necessary bodily function. The primary purpose of sweating is to help cool your body down and prevent heat exhaustion. The jury is still out on whether or not you can literally sweat all your toxins away… but studies show that small amounts of toxins like BPA, VPAs & Heavy Metals do actually get sweated out of your body. Antiperspirants use aluminium salts to block your pores and prevent you sweating, which simply isn't allowing your body to function as it was designed.

Antiperspirants could make your B.O worse

A small study in Belgium found that when test subjects started using regular deodorant or antiperspirant their underarm microbiome changed... meaning the bacteria naturally found in the armpit region altered, and not for the good. The study concluded that these changes lead to the promotion of an environment that supports odour causing bacteria. That's bad news if you're looking to reduce your B.O. A quality natural deodorant actually works by altering your microbiome to prevent odour causing bacteria, one of the great benefits of switching to natural deodorant!

You can pronounce (and eat some of) the ingredients

Aluminum Zirconium Tetrachlorohydrex. Can you pronounce that?! Nope, well neither can we, but that’s a chemical you may find in your conventional antiperspirant. Hmm.

Bicarb Soda, Arrowroot Powder, Coconut Oil. These are common ingredients that you usually find in an all natural deodorant. These familiar sounding ingredients are frequently used in our cooking too, so it makes sense that if you can eat these ingredients then it’s also safe for putting on your body. And on that note, here’s another benefit of switching to natural deodorant…

Natural deodorants contain natural ingredients

One of the major benefits of switching to a quality natural deodorant is that they don’t contain aluminium compounds, parabens, triclosan, phthalates or synthetic fragrances. These common antiperspirant ingredients also happen to be endocrine disruptors, meaning they alter your hormones. The verdict is still out on the long term consequences of such chemicals however it's fair to say that we don't want to risk using them on our body and neither should you!

They work... really well!

Our journey into the world of natural deodorant began because we wanted to reduce our exposure to nasty chemicals and create the best natural deodorant in Australia. I remember trying natural deodorants in the past however they just couldn't compare with regular antiperspirant when it comes to odour control. After much experimentation we came upon a nice little discovery, quality natural deodorant does work, really well! In fact we find our coconut vanilla natural deodorant to be more effective than the old antiperspirants we used to use. No chemicals and less B.O. Yes, it is possible!

So if you’re on the fence about switching to an all natural deodorant, we really think you should give it a go. Your body will thank you for it and you might be surprised at just how effective natural deodorant can be.
